Welcome back, Teen Mom
Among the many ridiculous shows that I watch, there is Teen Mom, following four of the original six girls that were filmed for the first season of 16 and Pregnant. Frankly, 16 and Pregnant is like a train wreck. It's devastating, but I can't look away. The first season was outrageous enough. But then they followed ten new girls. And each story was the same: I was having sex, and I wasn't using protection. Jigga, what? Didn't they see the first season?
Anyway, Teen Mom follows these four young moms and, in some cases, their baby daddy. Two of the moms really get on my nerves, Amber & Farrah. I know they are young, by now at least 18, but they are immature to a fault. And while the people in their lives that help them aren't perfect, they are there trying to provide a support system for the moms. These two girls are fighting their support system every step of the way. We'll probably never find out why.
One of the reasons I love this show, though, is the story of Catelynn and her boyfriend Tyler. They decided to give their daughter up for adoption. It was heartbreaking to watch. But it was also miraculous to see their courage and maturity. They knew that if a prepared, established and mature couple adopted their child, their little girl would be much better off. I like that MTV and Catelynn and Tyler decided to show teens in America that you're still parents, even when you give your child up for adoption.
So onto another season we go. Maci's boyfriend is a big time loser. I feel sorry for his parents because they probably don't get to see their grandson very much due to their son's lack of maturity, motivation, caring, etc.
I kind of wish they had included some of the moms from Season 2; I am really interested to see how Leah and the twins she had are doing. Oh dear. As much as I love to watch it, I really hope there isn't a third season of 16 and Pregnant.

yet another guilty pleasure show we have in common! a total train wreck show indeed, but I’m totally jazzed to see how the season progresses!
ReplyDeleteA train wreck indeed! A pregnancy scare, child support court, getting kicked out of living with your bf and domestic violence. All in episode 1?! What will happen next?
