I take the L to work in the mornings if I'm running late. Usually if I pack my lunch the night before, I'll have enough time to walk to work. But I just had fun visitors from out of town and I've been lazy, so the morning L has been a standard the last couple weeks.
It's almost silly for me to ride the L, because I go only one stop. But when I can, I try to get on the first car and stand near the door closest to the driver. The stairs to the ground level are closest to the front of the train.
I think it's safe to say that every public transit system, in every city has one universal rule: Let people exit before boarding. Well, the people boarding in the morning at the Loyola stop have missed the memo big time. And they are rude!
Almost everyday I have to fight my way out of the car because there are so many people waiting to board they crowd the door. The L drivers don't leave a lot of time for boarding, and I guess everyone wants a seat. But that's really no excuse for not letting me out. I've really reached my limit and it's hard to not whack everyone with my very large purse. My husband calls it my suitcase, so people, look out!
