I never used to enjoy citrus-y desserts. I was a chocolate fan all the way. But in recent years, I've had some delicious lemon meringue and key lime specialties that have changed my mind. And last year I discovered Sara Lee's frozen Key Lime Pie. Delicious.
So I decided, hey, maybe I could make key lime pie on my own and it would be just as delicious. Neal even found a super simple recipe from thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/ for me.
Was it just as delicious or even more so since I made it myself? Answer: no.
Sure, in the above picture it looks pretty appetizing, but it is not the same scrumptious froze pie with whipped topping from Sara Lee. And overall, it was a big disappointment.
Plus, does anyone else think condensed milk stinks? Ick! Besides lime juice and lime zest, condensed milk is the main component.
I hate to say it, but I prefer the store's pie to my own.
