SAG

Last weekend the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) aired. You might have missed them because they aired on TNT & TBS, on a Saturday night. My witty husband commented, "They love to give each other awards, don't they?" 'They' meaning actors. It does seem like it. In just nine days there were three awards shows: The Critics Choice Awards, The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards. And yes, I watched them all. I guess I'm a sucker for Hollywood awarding itself.

The usual suspects walked away with their 'actor.' Julianna Margulies won for The Good Wife. No surprise there. It's a new show which seems to be based on real-life happenings in politics. I admit I've never seen it, but from the commercials I never wanted to. I loved Julianna Margulies on ER, and I'm sure she's doing a great job acting-wise. But awards shows love to honor new shows that are getting a lot of press (i.e. Glee). And this show is getting major press because it's eerily similar to some real-life stories. I was pulling for Mariska Hargitay. I love her on Law & Order: SVU. Maybe next year.

I was happy to see Jeff Bridges, once again, get recognized for Crazy Heart. Based on his run, he seems like a shoo-in for the Oscar. And I guess I really am going to have to see Precious & Inglorious Basterds one of these days. Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz keep winning for best supporting actress/actor. After three awards in a row, I am convinced.

  1. Leave it to me to comment on this post- ha! I didn't see the SAG awards, but watched the fashion review on E! Brynner- you must watch the Good Wife... it's amazing! And Inglorious Bastards is a bit comical - you should see it!
